Winning three in a row for the first time this season won't be easy Sunday when the Sky host the Las Vegas Aces, who have won five straight games against Chicago.
Chicago (6-12) was mired in a six-game skid when it scored 75 points or less three times, before averaging 112.5 points in consecutive home victories over Portland. During a 124-94 rout of the Fire on Friday, the Sky set a franchise mark for points, while Kamilla Cardoso scored 30 and delivered an WNBA-record 13-for-13 shooting performance from the field.
Sky veteran Courtney Vandersloot returned from injury to make her season debut Friday and recorded seven of the team's league-record 38 assists.
"I think that it's something (our team) deserves for the work that they put in," said Chicago coach Tyler Marsh, whose team shot 66% overall and 15 of 28 from 3-point range.
"It's a testament to them for continuing to stick with it. ... Keep believing."
Cardoso has averaged 21.3 points on 35-of-45 shooting in the last four games. She averaged 14.0 points and 12.7 points while the Sky lost all three meetings with Las Vegas in 2025.
Chicago's most recent victory over the Aces was a 93-85 win at home on July 16, 2024.
Las Vegas (13-5) has lost just twice in its last 11 contests. One of those defeats came 87-76 versus New York on Tuesday, but the Aces bounced back with a 99-84 home triumph over Dallas on Thursday.
Aj'a Wilson had 32 points and Chelsea Gray added 12 with nine assists to become the fourth player in league history to record at least 4,500 points and 2,000 assists.
"The biggest thing that I'm always harping on is just that consistency," Aces coach Becky Hammon said. "It just means we're pushing in the right direction."
Wilson has averaged 25.5 points per game this season as well as 20.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 23 career games versus Chicago.
The Sky and Aces teams will meet again Friday at Las Vegas.
