The Official Deadspin Youth T-Ball League Opened The Season By Picking Dandelions
The children of Rick from suburban Boston helped us with a little video project last spring. In return, we agreed to sponsor their T-ball league. Throughout the season, we will chronicle the league's exploits.
Opening Day was last Saturday, and with it came all of the pomp and circumstance one comes to expect at the start of baseball season. David Lillian, a parent and our embedded correspondent, passed along a few highlights:
• Our rightfielder perfected her dandelion technique and scattered "poofy heads" all over the outfield while making wishes to meet all of her favorite princesses. • Our starting catcher went 3-for-3 with three inside-the-park home runs. Not one ball left the infield. • The entire infield developed Knoblauch syndrome and decided it was easier to get outs by running the ball to first base instead of throwing it.
Never too early to stress the fundamentals.
