Tigers-Nationals rained out; twin bill slated for Wednesday
Fans make their ways into the stadium as a rain delay is announced before the first inning of the MLB National League game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals at Great American Ball Park in downtown Cincinnati on Friday, May 2, 2025. The Washington Nationals' home game against the Detroit Tigers was postponed Tuesday due to rain in the area.
Instead, the teams will play a day-night doubleheader Wednesday. The makeup game was scheduled for 1:05 p.m. before their regularly scheduled game at 6:45.
Pitching plans for the twin bill were not yet known, but Washington is expected to use right-hander Trevor Williams and left-hander MacKenzie Gore as its starters in some order. Detroit might opt for an opener in Game 1 with right-hander Jack Flaherty likely going in Game 2.
Tuesday was supposed to be the opener of a three-game series between the American League-leading Tigers and the Nationals, who are last place in the National League East.
