Court Documents: Evander Kane Grabbed Women's Necks At Bar, Fought With Bouncer
Photo: [object Object] Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane grabbed two women’s necks, pulled another woman’s hair, and fought with a bouncer at a Buffalo club called Bottoms Up on June 24, according to sworn statements to police acquired by Buffalo news station WKBW.
The ABC affiliate showed excerpts from the documents in its televised segment. One woman told police that Kane put his hands around her neck. “That’s how he always treats women,” the statement reads.
Another woman said in her statement that Kane pulled her hair and later tried to make her kiss his hand. She refused, and he argued with her.
A bouncer at Bottoms Up said he received a text that Kane had to leave around 3:05 a.m. because of complaints. The bouncer said that when he told Kane to go, the NHL player said, “I’m gonna do you a favor and pretend I didn’t hear you.” After being told a second time, Kane allegedly went after the bouncer and threatened to kill him, and had to be escorted out. The bouncer said he later watched the club’s surveillance video and saw Kane grab another woman’s neck on the dance floor.
Kane turned himself in for arrest on July 22, and has been charged with four counts of non-criminal harassment and one count of criminal trespass. Kane’s attorney told WKBW that Kane plans to plead not guilty.
