Report: Student Said Football Coach Pushed Her Out Of Line Of Fire During Florida School Shooting
Photo: Wilfredo Lee/ [object Object] According to a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., assistant football coach and security guard Aaron Feis pushed her out of the line of fire during Wednesday’s school shooting that left 17 people dead, including Feis.
David Furones of the Sun-Sentinel spoke to head football coach Willis May and learned that Feis’s family was informed of the assistant coach’s death around “midnight Wednesday or very early Thursday morning.” During yesterday’s press conference, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel had mentioned a football coach being among the dead, but didn’t name him. Feis’s cousin Joey Fulco confirmed Feis’s death to the Huffington Post. From Furones’s article:
Social media accounts throughout the day called Feis a hero, saying he was shot while helping a student. May said he heard directly from a student that Feis jumped between her and the shooter, to push her out through a door and out of the line of fire.
The football team’s Twitter account and Douglas football player Charlie Rothkopf shared photos of Feis:
