ESPN apologizes for Sugar Bowl boob flash
You can’t do that on television credits: [object Object] What happens on Bourbon Street doesn’t always stay on Bourbon Street. In one case, it gets broadcast to millions of people.
Most broadcasts typically air shots of city landmarks and famous neighborhoods when they cut in and out of commercial breaks. ESPN’s broadcast of the Sugar Bowl chose New Orleans’ Bourbon Street and one of its most famous transactions: A woman flashing for beads.
For reference on how many may have seen the NSFW slip, last year’s primetime semifinal broadcast – the Peach Bowl between Georgia and Ohio State – averaged 9.8 million and 22.45 million viewers across ESPN’s various networks.
ESPN issued an apology early Tuesday morning.
“We regret that this happened and apologize that the video aired in the telecast,” ESPN’s Bill Hofheimer said in a statement to The Associated Press.
