Police: NFL Free Agent Attacks MLB Prospect After Signing-Bonus Argument
Oklahoma police say former Weber State linebacker Anthony Morales broke the jaw of Yankees pitching prospect Ty Hensley last month after an argument over signing bonuses.
Morales, who played during the Carolina Panthers' preseason, was charged with aggravated assault and battery today after allegedly knocking out Hensley at a friend's house in The Village, Okla. on Dec. 28. We obtained a copy of the police report from the Oklahoma County DA's office that says one witness heard an argument "about the amount of money professional athletes are paid for signing with a professional team." Then, she heard a struggle:
Hensley's jaw was broken in two places, his tooth was chipped, and his mouth was wired shut. His lawyer Jacob Diesselhorst said Hensley had no neurological injuries and should make a full recovery.
