Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks sustained an apparent non-contact knee injury during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the host Philadelphia Eagles.
Brooks slipped to the ground after suffering the injury and limped to the medical tent. He was then carted to the Panthers' locker room and the team said he was doubtful to return.
The injury was to the same knee Brooks rehabbed for 12 months before being activated from injured reserve last month.
Brooks sat out the team's first nine games while recovering from the torn ACL he suffered while playing for the University of Texas in November 2023. The Panthers selected Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Carolina is expected to lean on Chuba Hubbard for the remainder of the game with fellow running back Raheem Blackshear ruled out due to a chest injury.
Brooks, 21, had eight carries for 25 yards in his first two games before losing three yards on his lone carry Sunday.
