Rangers' offense awakens in rout of Blackhawks

Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Images Filip Chytil scored twice and Brett Berard, Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren each earned two assists to lift the visiting New York Rangers to a 6-2 rout of the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
Louis Domingue stopped 25 shots for New York while 12 Rangers registered a point to match a season high.
Backed by plenty of offense, including five straight goals during one stretch, Domingue shined in his season debut. He joined the Rangers from AHL affiliate Hartford this week after Igor Shesterkin was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
Blackhawks goaltender Arvid Soderblom made 28 saves for Chicago. The Blackhawks have lost six of seven.
Chicago grabbed a 1-0 lead at 5:37 of the first period, as Tyler Bertuzzi gathered a pass from Connor Bedard and snuck a snap shot past Domingue. Bedard extended his career-best point streak to seven games, lunging for a loose puck in the high slot and moving toward the net before finding Bertuzzi in the crease.
The advantage lasted for less than 10 minutes. New York netted the equalizer when Jonny Brodzinski sent a wrist shot through traffic and over the glove-side shoulder of Soderblom. Will Borgen gave the Rangers the lead for good at 18:22 of the first period, scoring unassisted on another long wrist shot after a Blackhawks turnover.
New York added three goals in the second period to seize control. Chytil started the surge at 3:28 before Reilly Smith scored on a breakaway at the 9:54 mark, capitalizing on miscommunication among the Blackhawks at the end of a long shift.
Mika Zibanejad had the primary assist on Smith's goal for the 400th assist of his career.
Vincent Trocheck's redirect of a long shot from Artemi Panarin made it 5-1 New York.
The Blackhawks drew one goal closer on Wyatt Kaiser's first career goal with two minutes left in the second period. Kaiser scored on a wrist shot from the high right circle.
The Rangers restored a four-goal cushion at 8:36 of the third period as K'Andre Miller's shot deflected off Chytil, who is on a four-game point streak, and past Soderblom.
